Development of a standard phantom for diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging quality control studies: A review

Abstract Various materials and compounds have been used in the design of diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWMRI) phantoms to mimic biological tissue properties, including diffusion. This review thus provides an overview preparations various DW-MRI available relation limitations strengths materials/solutions fill them. The narrative conducted from relevant databases shows that synthesizing all individual liquids, gels, solutions based on their identified could contribute development a novel multifunctional phantom. proposed material at varied concentrations, when filled into multi-compartment Perspex container cylindrical or spherical geometry, serve as standard phantom potentially provide quality control test parameters one study session.
